NextImg:Deion Sanders: Colorado made $18 million for Boulder last week

Deion Sanders mania is extending far past the football field.

Following the Buffaloes’ electrifying first two wins of the season — a stunning 45-42 win over No. 17 TCU and a comfortable home-opener victory against Nebraska — Colorado has become both a local and nationwide phenomenon.

“You see the lineup this morning for kids to get tickets?” Sanders said in a video posted to X on Wednesday.

“They say the city made $18 million last weekend,” Coach Prime added.

“That’s what really important,” another coach said in the video. “The city loves when you win because everybody around here wins.”

Sanders’ total rejuvenation of the Colorado roster, which was 1-11 last season, includes 87 new players on the roster, an unheard of amount in a single year’s turnaround.

Coach Prime’s son, Shedeur Sanders, has emerged as a star during the program’s revival, throwing for 510 and 393 yards along with six touchdowns in the team’s first two games.

Meanwhile, Travis Hunter, a two-way wide receiver and cornerback, has also become an exciting prospect with dazzling touchdowns and interceptions on both sides of the field.

“This team,” Sanders said after the team’s Nebraska win, “hasn’t scratched the surface of what it’s capable of doing.”

Shedeur also took the opportunity to put Nebraska coach Matt Rhule on blast for disrespecting his father and standing on the Buffaloes logo prior to the game.

“It was extremely personal, you go out there and warm up and you’ve got the head coach from the other team standing in the middle of the Buff,” Sanders said after the game. “It’s OK if a couple of players do it, it’s fine, just enjoy the scenery. But when you’ve got the whole team trying to disrespect it, I’m not going for that at all. I went in there and disrupted it.

“The Buffaloes mean a lot to me — personally — and that’s what I was saying in pregame. And that’s when I knew it was extreme disrespect. The coach said a lot of things about my pops, about the program. I don’t respect that because you’re hating on another man. … All respect was gone for them and their program.”
