NextImg:DeAndre Hopkins trade rumors heat up after curious social media follows

As trade talks about DeAndre Hopkins are ramping up, the Cardinals receiver is raising eyebrows with his social media activity.

The Cardinals are looking for a second-round draft pick, plus something else of value for Hopkins, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer — who described it as a package similar to what the Texans received from Arizona (Houston sent Hopkins and a fourth-round pick to Arizona for running back David Johnson, a second-round pick and a 2021 fourth-rounder).

Hopkins apparently went on an interesting follow spree, as some have noticed that he recently followed Patriots quarterback Mac Jones and linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. on Instagram — as well as Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

That came after Wilson’s attempt at recruiting Hopkins on Thursday, writing on Twitter: “What we doing @DeAndreHopkins?” with a bulging eyes emoji.

A day prior, Breer reported that the Patriots aren’t in on Hopkins after signing JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency.

Hopkins — a five-time Pro Bowler, with three First-Team All-Pro selections — reportedly had the Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars as his top preferred trade destinations.

The market for Hopkins’ is “soft,” according to former NFL executive Michael Lombardi.

“I don’t think anybody wants to get into the Hopkins business, and then have to redo his contract,” Lombardi said on the March 16 episode of his “GM Shuffle” podcast — adding that he’s not at liberty to discuss other things that are probably holding back a trade.

Hopkins, who turns 31 in June, is slated to earn base salaries of $19.5 million in 2023 and $14.9 million in 2024.

The 6-foot-1 wideout missed the first six games of last season due to a PED suspension, which reportedly made the no-trade clause in his contract ineffective.

Hopkins hasn’t played a full season since 2020 due to injury and suspension — which could be a red flag for interested teams, along with the money he is owed.
