NextImg:DeAndre Hopkins: ‘Giants didn’t want me’ amid free agency drama

DeAndre Hopkins might have a couple of dates circled on his calendar this season.

The Titans’ new wide receiver revealed in a feature with GQ that he’s still keeping tabs on the teams that didn’t want him after he was surprisingly cut by the Cardinals this summer.

And that list included the Giants.

“I’m very grateful for where I am, I think I made the best decision,” Hopkins, who was also connected to the Patriots, Bills and Chiefs, said.

“But when you’re a player and some people feel like they’re great without you, and then you see what they have on paper, or you see what they do, you mark those games down, as a competitor. I can’t wait to play’ em and, honestly, try my best to crush they ass,” he added.

“Detroit Lions, they didn’t want me,” Hopkins said. “Dallas Cowboys didn’t want me. Giants didn’t want me. S–t. Who else ain’t want me? San Fran ain’t want me.”

Hopkins, 31, was released by the Cardinals in May, and the team decided to take a $22.6 million cap hit to cut ties with the receiver, who had two years and $60 million left on his contract.

Following a protracted free-agency period that included momentum for a deal with the Patriots, Hopkins signed a two-year, $26 million contract with the Titans to join Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry.

The five-time Pro Bowl receiver has missed 15 games over the last two seasons following a litany of injuries and a six-game suspension for PEDs in 2022.

“I don’t look at age, but it’s some of the reason some teams might’ve passed up on me. Their No. 1 DB would have a hard time against me on the island,” Hopkins told GQ.

Hopkins played nine games and caught 64 passes for 717 yards and three touchdowns last year.
