NextImg:David Stearns may not want any part of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s price tag

One rival GM said he thinks Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is worth the $500 million he seeks.

Despite the speculation and the Mets’ well-stocked cash drawer, folks don’t believe they’d be the one to pay that. People around the game don’t see Mets honcho David Stearns spending that much money on a slugging first baseman — even a young one.

The Post exclusive that Guerrero was offered a significantly deferred $500M (worth between $400M and $450M) by the Blue Jays and Ken Rosenthal’s follow story that Guerrero requested $500M straight (not deferred) may suggest the gap could be closed eventually. Guerrero has made clear he’d love to stay in Toronto, and the Jays, who have difficulty luring stars, can’t let him leave.

Jacob deGrom has been slowed by the weather and a stomach bug, but the Rangers say they expect him to be ready to start the year. They also are continually amazed watching him throw on back fields.
