NextImg:David Letterman Absurdly Mistakes Travis Kelce For Kelsey Grammer While Supporting NFL Star’s Relationship With Taylor Swift: “God Bless Taylor Swift And Kelsey Grammer”

David Letterman is certainly enchanted by Taylor Swift‘s relationship with a particular football player… or Frasier star?!

According to The Daily Mail, the late night legend shared his support for the pop star and Travis Kelce‘s high-profile relationship on Instagram, but he didn’t quite get it right.

“Taylor Swift — I don’t think in the history of show business, in the history of pop culture, we’ve ever witnessed anything like this,” he explained, deeming her work “tremendous.”

While highlighting that Swift “fills stadiums around the world [and] puts on a three-hour show,” he proceeded to argue that “we live in a world now where all we hear is nonsense and ugliness.”

“And the nonsense can’t be more nonsensical, and the ugliness, God hopes it can’t get any uglier,” he continued.

Praising the pop star “a glowing bright light of goodness in the world,” he brought up her relationship with Kelce, but he mistakenly (and hilariously) referred to the athlete as “Kelsey Grammer.”

Letterman noted that “people go crazy,” explaining how NFL fans “don’t want Taylor in football,” and the Swifties “don’t want a footballer.” He was eventually corrected by a frustrated voice off-camera yelling, “Travis Kelce!”

“And I say to both camps, this is such a lovely thing!” he exclaimed. “Shut up! It’s good for the footballers, it’s good for Taylor Swift, and it’s something positive and happy for the world.”

He even claimed that “politically, Taylor Swift is a huge force,” whom he believes “just wants to see people do the right thing.”

“So God bless Taylor Swift and Kelsey Grammer,” he quipped.

Letterman is not the first major figure to passionately defend Swift and Kelce’s relationship. Stephen A. Smith recently weighed in, arguing that Swift is not an “impediment” to Kelce’s games and that she’s “probably gonna have a positive impact on Travis Kelce’s performance,” potentially a clairvoyant comment considering Kelce’s Chiefs just made it to the Super Bowl.

Now fans — including including Jenna Bush Hager — are debating whether or not Swift can feasibly support her beau at the big game following a concert in Tokyo.

We’ll all see if she manages to make it to the Super Bowl on time when the big game airs Sunday, Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
