David Byrne is about to burn down the house Hall.
On Tuesday, Sept. 30, the former Talking Heads frontman will launch his four-show mini residency at NYC’s famed Radio City Music Hall as part of his ongoing ‘Who Is The Sky Tour’ in support of his recently-released album with the same name. His other three subsequent shows are slated to go down:
Wednesday, Oct. 1
Friday, Oct. 10
Saturday, Oct. 11
“The tour concept is unlike anything I’ve done before,” Byrne shared via Instagram. “We’ll keep the mobility that was a key element of the American Utopia tour and Broadway show— but instead of the chain… we will have locations. You’ll just have to come and experience what that involves.”
If you’d like to see “what that involves,” tickets are available for the wily 2002 Rock Hall of Fame inductee’s quartet of Big Apple gigs.
At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find for any one concert was $105 including fees on Vivid Seats.
Byrne’s three other Radio City shows have seats starting anywhere from $135 to $164 including fees.
Based on our findings at Set List FM, the 73-year-old has been performing 20+ songs at all shows on the run thus far. That includes Talking Heads favorites like “Burning Down The House,” “Once In A Lifetime,” “And She Was,” “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)” and “Life During Wartime” as well as cuts from the new record, a Paramore cover and classic tracks from his long-running solo career.
Most notably, however, he dusted off “Psycho Killer” for the first time in 19 years when he kicked off the trek in Pittsburgh on Sept. 16. Dressed in an all-blue jumpsuit, the avant-garde vocalist sounded just as focused and strong as in his Talking Heads heyday, by our estimation.
As for the new stuff, When The Horn Blows claims “Who Is The Sky” is “a life-affirming album of joy, expression, love and affection amongst the darkest of places: and ultimately a need to just sit back and have fun.”

On Sept. 5, Byrne released his ninth solo album “Who Is The Sky?”
At 73, the quirky performer is showing no signs of slowing down creatively or vocally.
From the jaunty, joyous, almost tropical lead single “Everybody Laughs” to the minimalist, impassioned final track “The Truth,” Byrne melds vivid lyrics with genre-bending instrumentals and his haunting yet comforting talk-singing.
Personally, we’re partial to the absurd, bouncy “My Apartment Is My Friend,” delicately arranged, personal “A Door Called No” and salsa-like Hayley Williams duet “What Is The Reason For It?”
There really aren’t any disappointments here, though. Each and every song is exquisitely arranged, appropriately melancholy and ebullient and somehow danceable. In short, it’s a David Byrne album that fits squarely in his unimpeachable canon.
To hear for yourself, you can find “Who Is The Sky” here.
While Byrne is about as singular an artist as there is, there are many fellow gifted superstars from yesteryear with similiar sensibilities who have tours mapped out this year.
Here are just five of our favorites that you won’t want to miss live.
