Dave Portnoy said he was unprepared to talk about cricket on Tuesday — but then he went on a tirade for the ages.
Speaking during an appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Portnoy debated with former cricket star David “Bumble” Lloyd about the merits of the sport, launching an aggressive diatribe regarding his lack of knowledge and care for the worldwide bat-and-ball sport.
The Barstool Sports founder initially appeared puzzled about why he was speaking about cricket.
“Didn’t have getting in a debate about the merits of cricket on my bingo card,” he tweeted with a video of the appearance. “I thought I was talking about LIV Golf.”
Lloyd, a 76-year-old former cricket player for England’s international team, said he wasn’t surprised that an American like Portnoy wouldn’t understand cricket.
“If [Lloyd] was walking down the street and slapped me in the face, I’d have no idea who he was!” Portnoy said.
Portnoy said he didn’t know or care what the sport was about and was quickly dismissive of cricket’s merits.
“I don’t care about cricket at all, you’re not gonna get me to trash cricket, but I don’t know anything about it,” he said.
Morgan, who is a columnist at The Post, likened cricket’s relationship to baseball as one similar to snooker and pool.
“We basically have more superior, sophisticated, intelligent sport here,” Morgan said of England.
After Lloyd described a cricket game in which a week passed and neither team scored, Portnoy had heard enough.
“The way you just described it, you said it goes on for seven days straight with no points and no goals, that sounds like a torture camp to me,” Portnoy said.

Morgan and Lloyd mentioned the upcoming Major Cricket League on its way to the United States as a reason Portnoy would have to start appreciating the sport
The league, a six-team enterprise that was previously unknown to Portnoy, kicks off on July 13 with a matchup between the Texas Super Kings and the Los Angeles Knight Riders at Grand Prairie Stadium in Grand Prairie, Texas.
