NextImg:Dave Chappelle Triggers Walkout After Commenting On Israel-Gaza Conflict

Dave Chappelle triggered a walkout by some of his audience members on Thursday evening after he commented on the Israel-Gaza conflict.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the comedian was performing his stand-up set at the TD Garden Arena in Boston when he condemned both Hamas’ attack on October 7 as well as Israel’s bombing of Gaza.

Chappelle also made accusations of war crimes and pointed fingers at the U.S. for aiding the slaughter of innocent civilians. He then went on to criticize the Israeli government for cutting off supplies to Gaza’s population, and blocking humanitarian aid. He concluded his rant by saying that two wrongs don’t make a right.

Daily Mail strangely reports that a spokesperson for Chappelle says the comedian has asserted he was not in Boston on Thursday evening, however, other spectators have come forward confirming the story.

The WSJ reports that one audience member yelled “shut up” while others cheered and shouted “Free Palestine.” Some audience members walked out, with one later posting about the experience on social media:

“The audience was cheering Chappelle on during his tirade. I was sick. We were sick. I turned to my friends and wife and said I think it is time to go.

“We walked out and met up with many other Jews leaving the show. Never in my life have I felt so unsafe and so fearful of what I was witnessing.”

This wouldn’t be the first time Chappelle has drawn controversy for his words. In 2021, his Netflix comedy special attracted backlash from the streamer’s own staff for comments he made about the trans community. Netflix refused to remove the show from its platform, citing free speech as its reason.
