NextImg:Davante Adams slams Bills’ Taylor Rapp for helmet-to-helmet hit: ‘Out of control

Davante Adams was none too pleased with the hit he took in the Raiders’ game against the Bills on Sunday.

Late in the game with the Raiders trying to score down 38-10, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo flung up a deep ball in the middle of the field for Adams, but cornerback Cam Lewis broke up the pass before safety Taylor Rapp hit Adams with his helmet into the left side of the receiver’s helmet.

Adams went down and exited the game, while Lewis was flagged for unnecessary roughness.

On Wednesday, Adams spoke up about the play and how he did not find the hit to be necessary in the slightest.

“Was it unnecessary? Completely, obviously,” Adams said, according to ESPN. “But, certain players play a certain way, too. Some people, out of control, they fly around, they don’t really have much true purpose out there. I mean, playing a half field on one side, you run over and hit somebody in the head on the other side of the field.

“That’s the kind of stuff that contributes to you not being on the field. That’s why you’re in when you’re blowing us out by 25 at the end of the game. Maybe if that man learns how to play the game the right way, he’ll see the field. Until then, he’ll have to go and live off of plays like that, I guess.”

Adams, who entered the concussion protocol after the hit, was a full participant in practice on Wednesday.

The three-time All-Pro has 12 catches (one touchdown) for 150 receiving yards through two games this season.
