Fans are finally getting a peak behind the curtain at Deion Sanders’ Colorado team.
During an appearance Tuesday on “The Hardline” on The Tickets Sports Radio, former Cowboys fullback and current USFL president Daryl Johnston said Sanders had done something he had never seen before in the locker room on Friday before the Buffaloes’ shocking 45-42 win at No. 17 TCU.
“He [Sanders] had gone around and he told every offensive and defensive coach that they were gonna get up in front of the team, at the team meeting, and tell the team why they were gonna win the game tomorrow,” Johnston said.
Johnston, Sanders’ teammate for five seasons in Dallas, said every coach delivered a rousing speech about his belief in the team.
“It was something like I’ve never seen before, it was a non-traditional team meeting,” said Johnston. “I was ready to go play after everybody was done.”

Colorado’s performance, stunning last year’s national championship runner-up, gave the Cowboys great belief in what Sanders was preaching.
“I tell you what, there’s something unique about this group right now,” Johnston said.
“It’s one thing to talk about it on Friday night and you’re a 20-point underdog and you’re on the road in the stadium of the team played in the national championship game last year. It could just be … a lot of smoke and mirrors, and then to watch them go out and execute the way that they did was unbelievable.”

Sanders has completely transformed the Colorado roster, with 87 new players in a stunning turnaround.
Coach Prime’s son, Shedeur, threw for 510 yards and four touchdowns on Saturday, while two-way player Travis Hunter had 11 catches for 119 yards as a wide receiver and a pivotal interception as a cornerback.
The Buffaloes, now ranked No. 22 in the nation, take on Nebraska in their home opener on Saturday.
Johnston is a two-time Pro Bowl fullback who played for the Cowboys’ three Cowboys Super Bowl-winning teams in the 1990s.
