Darren Waller’s Giants’ debut could be put on hold.
The Giants’ summer-long run of injury fortune took a turn for the worse Friday when Waller was added to the injury report as questionable for Sunday against the Cowboys.
He was limited in practice because of a hamstring injury.
It was a major win that the Giants were able to make it to Week 1 with a healthy Waller, who missed 14 games over the last two seasons with the Raiders.
His workload was closely managed by their sports science team.
What’s most concerning is that Waller was sidelined by injuries to both hamstrings last season and what started out as a training-camp nagged him into November.
If Waller cannot go or the Giants choose to play the long game and sit him, Daniel Bellinger started 11 games as a rookie.
But Bellinger’s experience is no substitute for Waller expecting to be the focal point of a more explosive passing attack.
