Daniel Vogelbach’s hair caused quite the stir, and his bat seemed to appreciate the new look, too.
The Mets designated hitter’s new hairdo saw his hair braided into a bit of a circle in the middle of his head, dyed blonde and ending with two tails down the back for the Amazins’ doubleheader split with the Braves on Monday at Citi Field.
Pictures of the 30-year-old Vogelbach’s hair quickly began circulating on social media, and the former Pirate seemed very happy with the style choice he made despite not being on on social media — so he was unaware of the reaction.

“I thought it looked good,’’ Vogelbach told reporters postgame about why he did it.
The change seemed to only help his cause at the plate.
Vogelbach went 2-for-6 with two RBI, two walks and a double in the pair of games.

His RBI double in Game 2 contributed to a 5-3 Mets win and helped raise his batting average to .278 and his OPS to .815.
He didn’t want to pin any correlation to the hairdo and his strong day at the dish, though.
“I’m not superstitious,” Vogelbach said. “Me getting hits has nothing to do with whether I have good hair or bad hair or I’m bald.”

Vogelbach is in his first full season in New York after coming over before last season’s trade deadline in exchange for right-handed reliever Colin Holderman.
He slashed .255/.393/.830 with six home runs and 26 RBIs in 55 games.

Now it’s time to see if Vogelbach’s good-hair luck continues with the Mets heading to Detroit to face the Tigers in a three-game series that starts Wednesday and will feature the season debut of Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer’s return the rotation from suspension.
