Daniel Jones looks ready to play in a flag football game if the NFL wants to speed up its newfound interest in the sport before the 2028 Summer Olympics.
Alas, assuming the NFL wants to keep its tackling parameters in place Sunday, Jones (neck) remains likely to miss the Giants’ game against the Commanders.
He threw passes on the run as the second quarterback up behind Tyrod Taylor during individual drills at Thursday’s practice but still has not been cleared for contact — no change in his status from one day earlier.
If Jones were cleared Saturday, could he play without taking team reps all week?
“When the doctors tell me he’s ready to play,” coach Brian Daboll said, “he’s ready to play.”
The Giants listed Jones as a limited participant in practice, along with RB Saquon Barkley (ankle), K Graham Gano (left knee), CB Adoree’ Jackson (neck) and RT Evan Neal (ankle).
CB Cor’Dale Flott (ankle/shoulder), LG Mark Glowinski (quad/ankle) and WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee) all were upgraded to full participants after Wednesday limitations.
