Daniel Jones unveiled more raw emotion in his 11-minute meeting with reporters Thursday, three days after he was benched for good as the Giants starting quarterback, than we’ve seen from him in his six years with the team.

Jones, speaking publicly for the first time since head coach Brian Daboll announced his benching Monday, teared up while answering questions about the support his teammates voiced for him.

With all due respect, there’s no need to feel sorry for Daniel Jones. No tears need to be shed for him.

Jones was given nearly six years to win with the Giants, and he helped produce just one winning season — the wild-card playoff berth in 2022 that prompted the franchise to award him a contract that has paid him $82 million guaranteed.
