A Daniel Jones return to the field might’ve just gotten clearer.
The Giants are looking at a potential Jones return in Week 10 when they take on the Cowboys, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday.
According to Schefter, there is even a chance Jones could come back next week against the Raiders, but that situation is not as likely because he has not yet been cleared for contact.
The ESPN insider added that a return on the road in Dallas is likely the most “realistic” option for Jones, though the Giants will monitor his progress over the coming weeks.
Jones, 26, has missed three straight starts as he battles a neck injury he suffered in a Week 5 loss to the Dolphins after getting sacked from behind by Miami linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel.
Head coach Brian Daboll said Friday that he did not have a prediction when Jones would — or could — come back this season.
“I don’t have a crystal ball with injuries,” Daboll told reporters, “but he is getting better, and we’ll see where he is next week. … I never expect anything with injuries.”
Jones, who was not available to the media Friday, did tell reporters Wednesday that he’s trying to get back on the field as soon as he’s medically cleared for contact.
He added that his current neck injury is different than the one he suffered in 2021, when he missed the Giants’ final six games.
“Yeah, they’ve shared that with me,” Jones said. “I’m certainly trying as hard as I can to get back, but from the doctor’s standpoint, it’s not something that he can clear me to do at this point, so trying to do everything I can to get back.”
Tyrod Taylor has started in Jones’ place, going 1-1 as the starter after a win last week over the Commanders.
The 34-year-old has thrown for 571 yards — completing 66.3 percent of his passes — and two touchdowns with no interceptions as he heads into a start against the Jets on Sunday.
