Dalvin Cook’s shot at the NFL postseason could soon be coming into focus.
Cook, who parted ways with the Jets on Tuesday after less than a year in New York, is drawing interest from the Cowboys and Ravens, according to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports.
“We’ll see tomorrow if RB Dalvin Cook clears waivers following his departure from the #Jets. My understanding is one team that may have potential interest down the road on the practice squad is the Baltimore #Ravens, though they did not have a spot available this morning,” Anderson posted Wednesday on X.
In a follow-up message, Anderson noted, “My understanding is that the Dallas #Cowboys will also consider potentially adding Dalvin Cook. Still evaluating.”
Cook, a four-time Pro Bowl running back, was one of the Jets’ high-profile signings over the summer following the April arrival of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Through 14 regular season games with the Jets, Cook rushed for 214 yards on 67 carries with zero touchdowns playing behind Breece Hall.
Just a season ago, Cook tallied 1,173 rushing yards for the Vikings in what was his fourth consecutive year eclipsing 1,000 yards.
Prior to joining the Jets, Cook spent the first six years of his career with the Vikings, who selected him 41st overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Though it remains to be seen where Cook could potentially land next, Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday he has “a tremendous amount of respect” for the 28-year-old Cook.
“Those are really questions you’re always visiting,” McCarthy said when asked about Cook, according to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.
“I have a tremendous amount of respect for him.”
The Cowboys, who can clinch the NFC East on Sunday with a win over the Commanders or an Eagles loss to the Giants, placed rookie Deuce Vaughn — their third-string running back behind Tony Pollard and Rico Dowdle, respectively— on injured reserve this week.
As for the Ravens, who won the AFC North last week and clinched the No. 1 seed, they have starting backs Gus Edwards and Justice Hill, followed by Melvin Gordon III.
Keaton Mitchell, Baltimore’s breakout rookie running back, recently tore his ACL and was lost for the season.
Wild-card weekend begins next week.
