The Dallas Cowboys may believe that Dak Prescott will be able to lead them to a title, but former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress isn’t buying it.

Burress knows a thing or two about winning a Super Bowl ring having done so during his time with the Giants.

The former NFLer was discussing C.J. Stroud and Prescott on “The Carton Show” when he slipped in the dig at the Cowboys QB.

“I believe he’s reached his ceiling as a quarterback with the Dallas Cowboys. They can win, but they won’t win a championship with him,” Burress said.

Burress may not be alone in his assessment of Prescott’s ability to help Dallas succeed.

Analyst Chris Simms ranked Prescott 13th on his Top 40 QB Countdown earlier this month — two spots lower than Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

Prescott had been ranked in the top 10 on Simms’ list last year.

The Dallas QB has led the Cowboys to the postseason in four of his last seven years, but they have never gone beyond the Divisional Round during his tenure.

The three times the Cowboys did reach the Divisional Round they fell to the Green Bay Packers (2016), Los Angeles Rams (2018) and San Francisco 49ers (2023).

Dallas also only picked up its first playoff win on the road since 1992 last season.

In terms of Prescott’s performance, he’s been hampered by poor play and injuries.

He had a career-high 15 interceptions during the 2022 NFL regular season and he has played in just 33 games over the past three campaigns.

Prescott threw for 2,860 yards and had 23 touchdown passes for the Cowboys last season.

The Cowboys have remained steadfast in their belief in the 29-year-old.

He signed a four-year, $160 million deal in 2021.

“I’ve got all the faith in the world we can win this thing with Dak,” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told ESPN at the NFL Combine.
