NextImg:Dak Prescott is taking heat from all angles this offseason

The Dak Prescott fan club must be working overtime this offseason.

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback has been under fire for his on-field performances by multiple sports media personalities.

The two-time Pro-Bowler is coming off a season in which he led the league in interceptions with 15 in only 12 games played and had his job security threatened by backup Cooper Rush — who won four of the five games he started while Prescott was injured.

Prescott, a seven-year NFL vet, has always had his doubters, but Fox Sports’ Joy Taylor believes that he simply does not have what it takes to get his Cowboys to an NFC Championship, let alone a Super Bowl.

Taylor said she needs to see a “miracle” from Prescott this season.

“Dak Prescott is not that talented,” Taylor said during an episode of “Speak”. “He’s good enough to get a team to the playoffs. He’s good enough to have a high-flying offense, good regular season record, win a division, and all of those things are inherently good things; they make you a franchise quarterback.

“But we don’t have to talk about you as if you are a Super Bowl contender doing that. Get to an NFC Championship game. Dak has been the reason they have lost multiple years against the same team.”

Fellow Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd agrees that Prescott is not extremely talented, but also thinks that the clock is ticking for him due to the level of talent on the way in the 2024 NFL Draft.

“Dak Prescott says ‘turning 30, there’s a real sense of urgency.’ Dak has urgency the next two years and age doesn’t have anything to do with it,” Cowherd said on his show, “The Herd”. “Less than a year away, Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Michael Penix Jr., all ‘A’ prospects, may all end up in the NFC because all the potentially awful teams are mostly in the NFC. Dak is not young nor cheap, nor is he a superstar talent, and that’s how you win Super Bowls.

“He’s a reflection of his roster more than he elevates it. He is the longest tenured quarterback for any team in the league and I know exactly what he is. It is ridiculous to think he’s going to ‘pop’ this year. You don’t think Kirk Cousins is going to ‘pop’ this year because you know what Kirk Cousins is.”

Craig Carton continued the trend of Fox Sports talking heads not liking Prescott by saying that he believes the quarterback is by far the worst the Dallas Cowboys has ever had.

“He wants to win every time he goes out on the field, he just hasn’t been good enough to do it,” Carton said on the “The Carton Show.”

Prescott has had great seasons in the past, but to really be considered a true superstar in the NFL, he’ll have to show he’s more than a one-trick pony when it comes to winning a single playoff game – and the clock is certainly not his friend.
