NextImg:Cowboys sitting at 23-year NFL betting low after shocking Micah Parsons trade

Just like Micah Parsons, NFL bettors are out on the Cowboys.

Dallas’ win total is just 6.5 for the upcoming season, the lowest mark for the annual contenders in 23 years in the aftermath of the shocking trade sending Parsons to the Packers.

The Cowboys also dropped from 50/1 to 60/1 to win the Lombardi Trophy and slipped from 20/1 to 30/1 to win the NFC.

On the bright side, they still sit at +675 to win the NFC East, ranking ahead of only the Giants.

It’s rare to see the Cowboys with such long odds since the franchise has largely been competitive under owner Jerry Jones.

That 2002 season came on the heels of back-to-back 5-11 seasons, and the Cowboys yet again went 5-11 to finish in last place in the NFC East.

Yahoo first reported the 2002 low point.

The juice is on Over 6.5 wins for this season with -150 odds at BetMGM, but even a 7-10 campaign would be nothing for Cowboys fans to celebrate.

Dallas is usually in the mix of things, with last year marking an exception, with the Cowboys struggling amid injuries suffered by Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Parsons, among others.

The Cowboys should have plenty of offensive firepower this year, but their defense may put up as much resistance as a folding chair.

Losing Parsons limits a unit already lacking talent, and last year’s Bengals showed that a good offense can only cover up so many defensive flaws.

The Cowboys play in a tough NFC East featuring the defending champion Eagles, emerging Commanders, and improved Giants, and the NFC East matches up with the NFC North and AFC West.

That means the Cowboys are staring down games with 2025 playoff teams in the Parsons-led Packers, Vikings, Lions, Chargers, Broncos, and Chiefs.

Dallas has -325 odds to miss the playoffs, compared to +260 to make the 14-team field.

The Cowboys begin the season next Thursday on the road against the Eagles in the league-wide opener, and they are 7.5-point underdogs.
