Micah Parsons put the Giants coaching staff on blast Monday for what he believes was mismanagement of quarterback Daniel Jones in the Cowboys’ 40-0 win on “Sunday Night Football.”
Parsons, 24, had one of Dallas’ seven sacks on Jones, who stayed in the game well into the fourth quarter despite the Giants’ 33-0 deficit heading into the final 15 minutes of the game.
Speaking on his podcast for Bleacher Report, the linebacker said Jones, 26, deserved a better fate.
“It’s called protecting your guy. You know, something I thought the Giants should’ve done,” Parsons said. “I don’t think Daniel Jones should’ve been in that game in the fourth quarter. I thought they should’ve protected him and pulled him out. And barring injury, their season will be over without Daniel Jones.”
Parsons then used the Bengals as an example, with Cincinnati pulling Joe Burrow from a lopsided Week 1 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
“‘Hey, we’re going to submit, we’re going to take our loss and we’re going to move on to next week and get better,'” Parsons said of protecting Burrow. “That’s the best thing you can do.”
But the Giants coaching staff took a different approach with Jones, and that didn’t sit well with Parsons.

“I do not agree with Daniel Jones staying out there until that last drive. I thought that was wrong, I thought it was deceiving,” said Parsons, a two-time All-Pro.
“That’s your franchise quarterback and he’s out there with a backup offensive line still getting sacked and hit. I just didn’t understand. Maybe it was a you know, prove-it moment by the Giants, I have no idea. A learning lesson, who knows? But I thought Daniel Jones should’ve got pulled out, so technically it’s not benched.”

The Giants signaled their belief in Jones as their franchise quarterback by signing him to a four-year, $160 million contract in March.
Jones finished Sunday’s loss with 104 passing yards, two interceptions and a QB rating of 32.4.

He’ll try to shake off the Week 1 disaster on Sunday when the Giants visit the Arizona Cardinals.
Parsons will get another look at Jones in Week 10, provided the quarterback can stay healthy between now and then.
