Authorities searched a wetland area in Massachusetts on Friday for the remains of a 5-year-old New Hampshire girl who disappeared in 2019 and is presumed dead, according to police.

New Hampshire state troopers combed through the marsh along Route 107 in Revere, Mass. as part of an investigation into the alleged murder of Harmony Montgomery, according to the Boston Globe.

At least 18 troopers from a unit trained to search “difficult terrain and environments” were aided by canine cops and drones, Massachusetts State Police spokesman Dave Procopio told the paper.

“Today’s search, which began shortly after 9 a.m., was prompted by information developed by investigators,” Procopio said in an email.

Little Harmony was likely murdered in Manchester, New Hampshire around the time she vanished in December 2019, state attorney State Attorney General John Formella said last year.

Her father, Adam Montgomery, 32, was charged in October with second-degree murder for allegedly beating the girl to death. He was also charged with  abusing a corpse, falsifying evidence and tampering with witnesses.

Police searched a marsh near Boston for the remains of Harmony Montgomery.

Her body has not been found and investigators believe Montgomery may have disposed of it in the area, where his extended family once lived, according to CBS News.

Montgomery had initially been charged with assault in January 2022 but further investigation led to the  murder charge.

Harmony, who was blind in her right eye, was 4-feet tall with blond hair and blue eyes and glasses.

Police didn’t learn that she had gone missing  until January 2022, when the New Hampshire Division for Children, Youth and Families alerted them that she had disappeared.
