One game in, it’s apparent Deebo Samuel is going to be a big part of the Commanders’ offense.

The do-it-all receiver had a massive game during Washington’s 21-6 win over the divisional rival Giants on Sunday in what could be a sign of things to come.

Through the air, Samuel had 77 yards on seven catches with 10 targets during his first regular-season game, catching passes from quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Those 10 targets were tied for the most he’s had in a game since the 2024 Super Bowl against the Chiefs.

As he’s apt to do, Samuel also did some damage on the ground.

In the fourth quarter, Samuel flashed his speed with a 19-yard rushing touchdown, breaking multiple tackles and beating the Giants’ defense to the goal line.

After the game, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn gushed about Samuel’s big-play ability.

“The touchdown run was quintessential him,” Quinn said. “We’ve seen that movie. That was a part of the reasoning with … the trade and why it was such a good fit.

“He’s a lot of fun to coach,” Quinn added. “He plays aggressive and downhill.”

Samuel thrives with short catch-and-run opportunities, and it appears he’s going to get much more of those looks in Washington rather than San Francisco.

Terry McLaurin, the Commanders’ No. 1 receiver, is much more of a deep threat compared to Samuel, leaving plenty of targets available for the latter.

With the newly acquired Micah Parsons in tow, the Packers’ defense looked good during Week 1 against the Lions, but oddsmakers’ forecast for Samuel is low enough to take a gamble on.
