It looks like Ron Rivera will be out of a job with the Commanders once this season ends.

Within a report about the NFL coaching carousel following Brandon Staley’s firing Friday by the Chargers, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports “there will be no surprises at the end of the regular season in Washington” regarding Rivera’s status.

“At this point it’s understood around the building based on multiple people I have spoken with that Ron Rivera and some front office members will be fired,” Russini wrote. “Since acquiring the team, new owner Josh Harris has had the vision to keep Rivera in place through the end of the season, then move on. It’s really not a secret anymore.”

The 61-year-old Rivera has posted a 26-36-1 record in four seasons in Washington, including a 4-9 mark this year entering Sunday’s road game against the Rams.

Rivera previously had coached the Panthers for nine seasons, twice winning NFL Coach of the Year honors and reaching the Super Bowl in 2015.
