Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost is one of several NBC stars who have traveled the world to cover the 2024 Summer Olympics. Unlike Kelly Clarkson and The Today Show anchors, however, Jost found himself in Teahupo’o, Tahiti where he is providing line coverage on Olympic surfing.
But the comedian appears to have injured himself on the job. He shared a graphic photo of his bloody foot, lamenting what this injury could mean to his coveted WikiFeet reputation.
He wrote, “This might ruin my WikiFeet score but I just arrived in Tahiti for the surfing Olympics and the reef was excited to greet me #paris2024 #showfeet.”
For what it’s worth, Jost’s current rating on WikiFeet Men is at an impressive 4.82 out of five – even after sharing the photos of his injured foot! He may have to step his game up, though; his wife, Scarlett Johansson, has a five-star rating.
Jost, who enjoys surfing in his free time, explained to NBC Sports reporter Mike Tirico that his foot got “scraped up” on some coral while he was surfing.
“I did pretty well until the first wave and then I ended up standing on the coral reef,” he explained. “Much like the coral reef safety expert but without coral shoes on, so I got a little scraped up.”
In fact, the comedian has been sharing quite a bit of feet-related content on Instagram since landing in Tahiti. Jost shared yet another image of his injured foot on Instagram, joking that he’s “been to the Olympic medical tent more than any of the athletes.”
The comedian practically predicted that he would end up injuring himself when NBC first announced that he would be traveling to Tahiti to cover the surfing events.
“I’m honored to get to watch the best surfers in the world compete on one of the heaviest waves imaginable, and to help showcase the rich history of surfing in Tahiti,” Jost said at the time. “And my Writer’s Guild health insurance is excited to see what the coral reef does to my back.”
While some viewers may be confused as to why the surfing events are taking place in Tahiti instead of Paris with the rest of the summer games, Jost explained in an exclusive clip from Peacock‘s Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart & Kenan Thompson that French Polynesia has some of the best surfing the world could offer.

“Surfing in Paris is traditionally bad. It’s more of a river setup,” he sarcastically explained to hosts Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson, before adding, “Even though it’s very far away and very early in the morning here — much earlier than I would like to be alive — we’re doing the surfing here instead. It’s one of the best waves in the entire world.”
He also expressed that he loves to surf in his free time, though he may be in a little over his head in Tahiti.
“I don’t want to surf here where they’re doing it because it looks like a place I could die. But I love generally surfing,” he said.
