A retirement party at a Bronx EMS station became a virtual kegger – with two paramedics and two EMTS getting suspended for allegedly being drunk on duty, The Post has learned.
The unauthorized Monday night bash at EMS Station 20 inside Jacobi Hospital in Morris Park for outgoing 28-year-veteran Lt. Christopher Attanasio got a little too festive after EMS Deputy Chief Michael Vetack showed up with beer, sources said.
“This is not uncommon, but they got caught,” said a veteran paramedic.
The FDNY, which oversees EMS, confirmed the four suspensions but declined to say whether Vetack or others were disciplined.
The agency said the incident remains under investigation but insisted that “at no time was EMS response from this station hampered.”
The EMS station’s captain and another supervisor were transferred to new assignments for allowing the party, according to sources, but the FDNY declined to comment about the transfers.
One FDNY source ripped the disciplinary moves by department brass, saying “morale is so bad in EMS. They don’t give a f–k.”
The medics landed in hot water after a tipster called and complained about the beerfest to the FDNY’s Bureau of Investigation and Trials.
Attanasio could not be immediately reached for comment, and Vetack did not return messages.
