Chris Pratt opened up about feeling “broken” before he met his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger while appearing on Tuesday’s (April 4) episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.

During a conversation about dating, the Super Mario Bros. Movie actor explained how easy it was to fall in love with Schwarzenegger — who he began dating in 2018 before getting married the following year.

“God has a fast-forward button,” he told Drew Barrymore. “When it’s right, ‘Boom!’ You fall in love, you get married. Now we have two beautiful daughters to add to my family and it feels really great.”

However, finding his happily ever after wasn’t as simple as he made it sound. Pratt revealed that he was “really struggling” and “felt really broken” prior to meeting his wife. He said he leaned on a “higher power” to help save him and shortly after, he met the “woman of [his] dreams.”

“It’s all about timing. There’s a perfect plan out there for you. And I think you just got to have faith and the minute you have faith, it falls into place,” he said.

Speaking of faith — the duo even met at a church.

“I was in the front row of church,” Pratt said. “Which is like, you kind of don’t want to be like, ‘Woah, who’s that?’ at church. But I was kind of sneaking some glances.”

While the duo hit it off right away, they didn’t begin dating until later on. Speaking to their “very quick” connection, Pratt compared Schwarzenegger to the missing puzzle piece in his life.

“You know when you’re doing a puzzle? And there’s a piece and you’re like, ‘I’m certain that’s the piece.’ And you, like, kind of jam it. And it’s like, it looks like it should be the piece,” the actor — who was married to Anna Farris from 2009 until they split in 2017 — said.

He continued, “And then you’re like, ‘Is it [this one]? Oh, it’s that one. It just fits together. Like, it fits because it’s the piece that was made to fit there. It felt like that.”

When Barrymore asked if he’s “always had access to this type of depth,” Pratt joked, “Not until the moment I sat right down in this chair. I had no idea. I think you have this magic ability to pull this out of people.”
