A suspected child rapist escaped a police car during a Memphis snowstorm — and then turned himself back in less than an hour later, having proved no match for the bone-chilling weather.

Demarkus Davis, 20, was being transported to the Shelby County Jail Sunday night as snow was blanketing the streets of Memphis, when he somehow managed to escape a patrol car while handcuffed, according to the Memphis Police Department.

A corrections officer who was driving Davis flagged down a Memphis cop before 11 pm to report the escape of the detainee, who was wanted on a warrant charging him with two counts of child rape, reported the station Action News 5.

The Memphis police put out the escapee’s description, revealing that he was dressed in a pair of blue jeans and a hooded sweatshirt.

Temperatures in Memphis Sunday plunged to a teeth-chattering 13 degrees as snow piled up, making it a bad night for Davis to be out on the streets in his light attire.

Less than 45 minutes after his brazen getaway, David reportedly stopped a stranger and asked them to call the police so that he could surrender.

He was picked up around 11:35 pm about half a mile from the spot where he made his escape.

Davis was booked into the county jail early Monday morning on the two child rape counts, as well as an additional charge of escape that has been tacked on in the wake of his brief escapade.

He remained behind bars Wednesday on $76,000 bond.
