Some drama appeared to unfold in the stands at SoFi Stadium on Sunday after a fan caught a touchdown ball from Chargers receiver Keenan Allen that was meant for his wife in the team’s 23-20 win over the Broncos.
After Allen scored a game-tying touchdown with 2:44 remaining, he pointed to wife Ciandra — who was in the front row near the end zone with their kids, holding a cut-out image of his face — and tossed her the football, only to have it snatched by a man in a white T-shirt.
The Chargers posted a video of Allen’s score, which tied the game at 20 apiece, and the fan was seen holding the ball as Ciandra appeared to confront him.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Ciandra explained that the fan apologized, and she had the ball “safe” in her possession.

“No he didn’t take the football from me!” Ciandra wrote, including a video of their son holding the ball on the Jumbotron. “He did come and apologize twice. We have it safe lol.”
Another snapshot showed her holding the ball with the caption, “Big W.”
Ciandra also replied to someone on X who posted a clip of the moment in question.
“I got the ball,” Ciandra wrote, adding, “the camera didn’t show right after that lol.”
Allen wasn’t connecting with Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert early in the game, but showed up at the right time.
Cameron Dicker’s game-ending, 43-yard field goal sealed the Chargers’ Week 3 victory at home to give the team its first 3-0 start since 2002.
Herbert went 28-for-47 with 300 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
The Chargers will visit the Giants (0-3) at MetLife Stadium next Sunday.
