17 years after a program-defining win at the Fiesta Bowl, the Boise State Broncos are back in the desert tonight, having clinched their first-ever College Football Playoff berth earlier this month.
They’ll face another first-time CFP entrant, the Penn State Nittany Lions, in the final college football game of 2024.
Ranked No. 3 in the nation, Boise State was awarded a bye to this quarterfinal round of the playoffs, while Penn State first had to face the SMU Mustangs to earn their spot in the quarterfinals. They won that game 38-10 to advance to today’s Fiesta Bowl.
