Eight years after first listing his Fifth Avenue duplex, celebrity hair stylist Frédéric Fekkai has finally sold it for $4.5 million — far less than its original asking price of $12 million.

He bought the home for $7.4 million in 2006.

The third- and fourth-floor duplex, at 953 Fifth Ave., was designed by Robert Couturier, and comes with a dramatic red-and-blue color scheme. At 3,500 square feet, it features four bedrooms and 4½ baths.

The home opens from a private elevator landing to an entry foyer that leads to a sunlit living room with a fireplace, moldings and three oversize casement windows overlooking Central Park.

There’s also a library with a fireplace and 18th-century chestnut wood paneling imported from Versailles, according to the listing, as well as a formal dining room with a fireplace and a table that seats 10. There’s even an eat-in chef’s kitchen with a butler’s pantry.

Stairs lead to the upstairs bedrooms, including a primary suite with three additional casement windows overlooking the park, along with a double bathroom and a custom walk-in closet. Original details include hardwood floors, while updates include central air conditioning with an air purification system.

The 14-story building, designed by architect Isaac Newton Phelps Stokes, dates to 1926 and features just seven units.

The listing brokers, Christine Miller Martin, Hunter Hulshizer, Kimberly Church and Bridgette Reardon, of Compass, declined to comment. The buyer’s rep, Corcoran’s Lauren Muss, also declined to comment.
