CeeDee Lamb did not take too kindly to comments made by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Thursday over the ongoing contract stalemate between the two sides.
Lamb, 25, is looking for a new deal after having an All-Pro 2023 season and is going into the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, but the Dallas boss told reporters that he didn’t “have any urgency to get it done.”
That Jones quote was posted to X by a reporter from The Athletic, and Lamb quickly quote-posted with a simple “lol” before reportedly removing a reference to the Cowboys in his social media bios, replacing it with “Eights.”
Lamb’s post was also reposted by Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons and Dak Prescott seemed to have a different take on the matter than Jones did.
“I know y’all want to ask, I got urgency for it to happen,” Prescott said, according to Cowboys team reporter Nick Harris, as he was ending his press conference Thursday.
Lamb is in the middle of a training camp holdout while he tries to get a new deal done, with his desired salary per season reportedly sitting at $30 million.
The latest salvos would seem to indicate that talks have stalled despite Cowboys executive Stephen Jones telling NFL Network just a few weeks ago that they had sent over a new contract offer and the talks were good.
The Cowboys had picked up the fifth-year option on Lamb’s rookie deal before the 2023 season and it paid off in Dallas’ favor.
Lamb had a career season that saw him lead the NFL in catches (135) for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Lamb is scheduled to earn $17.9 million for the 2024 campaign.
The Cowboys are slated to start the preseason on Sunday when they face the Rams.
