Carson Beck has publicly addressed his split from Hanna Cavinder for the first time.
The University of Miami quarterback was first linked to the former Hurricanes women’s basketball star and social media influencer during the summer of 2024 before confirming it that August, but the couple split earlier this year in the spring.
Beck described the situation as “difficult” in a new ESPN article.
“You make mistakes as a person, but it sucks that you have to go through something like that with someone that you care about, and now it’s all over the Internet,” Beck said. “Half of what you see in the media is true. Half of what you see is not true. So, people pick their side of the story and run with it. The people that know the truth know the truth. But it’s been difficult.”
Beck and Cavinder have not spoken since the breakup, according to the article.
Breakup rumors started to swirl in March when Cavinder wiped her social media clean of any references to Beck.
In April, Cavinder said she was the one to break up with Beck in a video posted to Kai Trump’s YouTube page. She added she did not break up with him over any cheating rumors, either.
“He would, like, flip off people at the bar, and I’d be embarrassed,” Cavinder said in the clip of her and her sister, Haley, talking with President Donald Trump’s granddaughter.
“So I broke up with him, and all this cheating s–t came out. I had no idea. I didn’t break up with him because he cheated. I broke up with him because of who he was.”

Cavinder never mentioned Beck by name in the clip.
Before the split, Beck had transferred to Miami after a disappointing 2024 season with Georgia, which included a season-ending UCL tear.
Beck has been playing well this season for the Hurricanes, already throwing for 972 yards and seven touchdowns over four games, while helping to lead Miami to an undefeated season and a No. 3 ranking.
