Before the second season of And Just Like That… even premiered on Max this summer, Sex and the City fans knew that two fan favorite characters would finally be returning this year. The powers that be finally wooed Kim Cattrall back to shoot a quickie cameo for the And Just Like That... Season 2 finale, thus bringing Samantha Jones back into the orbit of former friends Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon). But arguably even more important was the news that the widowed Carrie Bradshaw would reconnect with ex-fiancé Aidan Shaw (John Corbett).

**MAJOR SPOILERS FOR AND JUST LIKE THAT SEASON 2 EPISODE 6, now streaming on Max**

For decades now, Sex and the City fans have divided themselves into two camps: those who were pro-Mr. Big (Chris Noth) and those who would have preferred Carrie had wound up with Aidan. Even Carrie’s own friends openly debated who was her true soul mate over brunch in the iconic Season 5 finale “I Heart NY.” (Charlotte was for Big, Miranda was Team Aidan, and Samantha didn’t care.)

While other men jockeyed for Carrie’s affections, ultimately her heart was always torn between the sly and seductive financial titan and the earnest furniture designer. Carrie might have eventually wed Big, but she lost him in the series premiere of Max’s And Just Like That…, launching her on a journey of self-discovery all over again. Part of that journey apparently includes potentially rekindling a romance with Aidan Shaw… At least that’s what Max has teased fans through early promos, trailers, and production photos for the second season.

So the question that has plagued And Just Like That… fans for weeks is when exactly is this big Carrie/Aidan reunion supposed to happen? And is it happening soon?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Carrie and Aidan do NOT reunite in And Just Like That… Season 2 Episode 6. However, we think their reunion is night. That’s because Carrie not only fills new pal Nya (Karen Pittman) in on her history with Aidan, but she also fires off a rather bold email to her ex titled “Hey Stranger…”

What compelled Carrie do this? And what do we know about Aidan in And Just Like That…?

Why did Carrie send Aidan an email after all these years? I don’t know! Why does Carrie Bradshaw have a pigeon purse? Why does she wince at recording a vaginal health commercial for her sex podcast? Carrie Bradshaw is, as Aidan himself pointed out in Sex and the City 2, not like other women. (And yet who amongst us has not emailed, texted, or reached out to an ex at some point? To, uh, varying levels of success…)

But And Just Like That… Season 2 Episode 6 marked a moment of transition for Carrie. After a few botched hookups, she finally seems open to something more emotionally demanding after grieving Big. She specifically seems curious in reconnecting with Aidan.

Aidan first comes up when Carrie is telling Charlotte, Miranda, and Nya about meeting an ex-writing partner (Rachel Dratch) she can’t even remember. She points out that they apparently have more baggage than she has with Aidan. This prompts Nya to want to know all about the classic SATC love interest.

After Carrie gives Nya the Cliff’s Notes, Charlotte wonders aloud what he could be up to after all these years. Carrie quickly answers that he’s living in Virginia, has been divorced for five years, and sold his lucrative furniture company to West Elm “for quite a pretty penny.” 

“What did we do before the internet?” Nya says, not needing to even ask how Carrie gleaned all that intel. 

“I’m not proud of myself,” Carrie says. 

Later, we cut to Carrie drafting an email to Aidan, but she chooses not to send it. However, after her experience bonding with other widowed women at “WidowCon,” she decides it’s time to move on.

“And just like that, I realized some relationships are meant to stay in the past,” Carrie says. “And some aren’t.”

And she hits send on the email…

How will Aidan respond to Carrie’s email? Well, we’ll have to tune into more And Just Like That... on Max to find out.
