Syracuse Basketball legend Carmelo Anthony could be extending his legacy.
The 10-time All-Star took his son, Kiyan, to The Hill on an official visit, as his son remains a four-star recruit as a junior at Long Island Lutheran High School in New York.
Considered the top prospect in the state of New York, Kiyan currently is ranked as the 36th best player in the 2025 recruiting class.
In a social media post on Friday, the father and son were seen wearing Syracuse Orange jerseys in the basketball facilities named after the icon, the Carmelo Anthony Basketball Center.
The elder Anthony granted $3 million to kick-start the construction of the facility, which opened in 2019, 16 years after he led the Orange to a title in his only collegiate season.
Kiyan took to Instagram to share the photos from Carmelo’s full-circle visit.
Kiyan was sporting the No. 1 jersey alongside the 2003 NCAA Championship trophy, his parents and the coaching staff for the Orange, including new head coach Adrian Autry.
“carry the torch? #officialvisit,“ Kiyan wrote under the post, hinting at a potential future commitment leading him to Syracuse, New York.
Kiyan’s mom, La La Anthony, posted a heartwarming message on Instagram about the sentimental value the trip held to their family.
“Seeing @kiyananthony visit the same college his dad won the NCAA championship in 2003 is such a surreal moment! WOOOOOWWWWWWW #officialvisit,” she wrote.
Autry taking over for Boeheim marks the start of a new era for Syracuse, and landing an impactful recruit such as Kiyan could help raise the program’s profile once again.
Carmelo and Boeheim propelled the Orange to an NCAA Championship in 2003, the only national title for the men’s basketball program at Syracuse.
Before being the No. 3 pick in the 2003 NBA draft, Carmelo averaged 22.2 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, shooting 45.3 percent, leading him to win Big East Rookie of the Year.
He went on to play 19 seasons in the NBA, suiting up for the Nuggets, Knicks, Thunder, Rockets, Trail Blazers and Lakers.
He also won three Olympic gold medals, representing Team USA in the 2008 Beijing Games, 2012 London Games and 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.
Carmelo was the first player in U.S. men’s basketball history to win three Olympic gold medals.
Now, it’s Kiyan’s turn to begin writing the next chapter of his family’s storied history.
