Cardi B and Matthew McConaughey got the chance to bond over their poetry skills when the actor stopped by Today With Jenna & Friends Tuesday.

As a guest host for the day, Cardi B joined Jenna Bush Hager in interviewing McConaughey about his new poetry book and his upcoming thriller, The Lost Bus. The unlikely combination of celebs proved for an entertaining segment, but even Bush Hager noted she could never have imagined a trio like this.

“By the way, I could never have put the three of us together in a bingo card if someone had paid me,” she said, earning a laugh from both stars.

McConaughey kicked off the interview by sharing that he and Cardi B had previously met at Madonna’s Oscars party. “Yes, I remember that, I felt so famous,” Cardi B joked.

Bush Hager then wasted no time in reminding Cardi B that she once referenced McConaughey in her verse on “Wanna Be (Remix),” featuring GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion, forcing Cardi B to fess up to why she came up with the reference.

“You’re in one of her raps,” Bush Hager told McConaughey, who seemed fully aware of the song in question, in which Cardi B raps, “And my toes white like Matthew McConaughey.”

“Yeah, white toes. Talk to me,” he prompted her.

Cardi B appeared almost bashful as she explained the reference to the Oscar-winning actor.

“Well you know,” she began. “Megan Thee Stallion, she made a reference about fine white men, and I was like, ‘Oh well, fine white men, white toes, Matthew McConaughey.'”

Cardi B continued, “But I said your last name wrong because I had to rhyme it… He’s a poet, he knows about it.”

McConaughey did, indeed, seem to understand.

Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
