A Capitol riot suspect who went viral for wearing a dashing pink beret was allegedly identified by her ex — who said he’d dumped her for reading Adolf Hitler’s manifesto “Mein Kampf.”
Jennifer Inzuza Vargas is being investigated as being the distinctive-looking woman pictured in FBI appeals viewed more than 7.5 times on Twitter, law enforcement sources confirmed to NBC News.
The stylish California suspect was IDed by an ex-boyfriend who told the outlet that he was shown the now-viral appeal by a buddy who found her striking images amusing.
“I stopped dead in my tracks,” said the ex, a clothing designer who asked not to be identified.
“I’m like, ‘That’s Jenny,'” he recalled.
The appeal pics — showing her staring straight at a camera, and another posing dramatically with a stick — soon sparked conspiracies and jokes about the woman who is No. 537 on the FBI list of those wanted from Jan. 6, 2021.
She was seen in numerous locations that day, including carrying a big black bag away from where rioters were trashing media equipment.
Some suggested she was a mole, while others likened her to a character from a Wes Anderson movie or “Emily in Paris,” even dubbing her “Emily in-carceration.”
Others nicknamed her “fascist Matilda” — and even “Insurrection Eva Braun,” referring to Hitler’s wife.
After calling in a tip to the FBI, Vargas’ ex also tweeted about his link to her.
“I use to date this girl in 2019 LOL,” he wrote alongside an old pic of Vargas — before deleting it after things went “crazy” and he feared threats.
He told NBC that he first hit it off “really well” with Vargas in late 2018, with her flying in from Sacramento to visit him in Los Angeles a year later, when they were both in their early 20s.
“We weren’t, like, trying to get married or anything,” he said. “We were hooking up for a few months.”
He dumped her, he said, after she posted about reading Hitler’s 1925 manifesto.
“I was just instantly turned off, like, ‘Yo, I don’t think this is going to work out,’” he said.
“’You’re, like, reading ‘Mein Kampf,’ you think immigrants don’t deserve X, Y, Z,’” he recalled thinking of Vargas. NBC also confirmed that Vargas made unspecified references to Hitler on social media.
“She’s super into politics, and I didn’t know anything besides the fact that Trump lost,” the designer said.
They remained in touch, and the designer claims that he even asked Vargas if she was on a “no fly” list for having been at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
“Nope, cause I didn’t go into the [Capitol],” she wrote in messages shared with NBC News, which noted extensive video evidence showing her inside the building.
“I was there to support the president. Not to partake in that riot. I support the police,” Vargas reportedly stated.
Vargas did not respond to NBC News’ requests for comment, and The Post was unable to reach her early Monday.
Her ex says his “heart hurts” for her.
“She’s clearly, like, a lost person,” he said.
As for him, “It’s just going to be one of those things for me,” he said. “I dated this girl that was on the FBI’s most wanted list.”
