Candy Spelling dodged questions about her daughter Tori Spelling’s ongoing housing “crisis” while out at a swanky Beverly Hills eatery with some of her fellow socialite pals.
The 77-year-old, who wore an all-black outfit, was photographed looking uneasy while leaving lunch at Yu/Mi Sushi on Friday afternoon.
When asked about her daughter’s new RV life, Candy kept tight-lipped as she slipped into the back of her chauffeur-driven Mercedes.
Candy has come under fire in recent days for seemingly standing by as her 50-year-old daughter continues to struggle to find a place to live with her five children.
In fact, the “Candy At Last” author had to disable her Instagram comments after she faced backlash for sharing a shot of her “blooming” rose garden right after news broke that Tori’s living situation.
Before the comments were turned off, fans labeled the matriarch as “selfish” and “shameful,” yet sources later told Page Six that Candy had, in fact, tried to help her daughter.
An insider told us that “Candy spent hours on the phone trying to find [a house]” for her daughter and grandchildren but that Tori “wanted to live in a certain place.”
“[It] is fine, they should live where they want to live,” the source added.
According to a new report, the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum has been “struggling monetarily” amidst her split from husband Dean McDermott.
Insiders said the “catastrophic” situation has put Candy in a tough spot as the public continues to “unfairly” blame her for Tori’s housing issues.

“The public has gotten this picture that [Candy is] ignoring Tori, and it’s not true. Under no circumstances would Candy Spelling let her [daughter] live in an RV,” an insider told us.
In fact, “[Candy] didn’t even know about it until she read it about it in Page Six,” the source claimed.
They noted that several of Tori’s other friends, including “Million Dollar Listing” star Josh Flagg, have even been trying to get her to “look at houses for the last two months!”
“No one knows why she went to a hotel, and why she’s in an RV. It makes no sense. He sends her [listings] every day,” an insider said.
Meanwhile, others suspect that the former reality TV star may be trying to use the situation to get back on the small screen.
“She must have the paparazzi living at the trailer park. When have you ever seen the paps at Wal-Mart? It’s definitely a book deal, or some kind of series [in the works]. It’s like poor little rich girl.”
Since early July, Tori has been photographed moving her kids — Liam, 16, Stella, 15, Hattie, 11, Finn, 10, and Beau, 6 — into various different housing arrangements — from cheap motels to California campgrounds.
The family of six had to evacuate their rental home due to “extreme mold” which had been causing them severe health problems for months.
“We now know that when the house was labeled a health hazard and not live able [sic] that wording was FACT,” Tori wrote via Instagram in May. “We now GET IT! It’s hard to just uproot a huge family especially in midst of all feeling so sick and in bed. But, we now will vacate the home asap.”
