If I Only Had Christmas

Holiday movie stars Candace Cameron Bure and Danica McKellar have a hilarious way of helping their husbands get through their more intimate scenes.

Bure, who has starred in several Christmas romances including Home Sweet Christmas, told Fox News that it can be very uncomfortable for her spouse to watch her kiss her co-stars in these films.

“I don’t think it’s as comfortable for anybody – maybe if you’re an actor married to another actor – it’s just never comfortable to watch your spouse in the arms of someone, even though it’s a peck or a kiss or anything,” she said. Bure has been married to former NHL player Val Bure since 1996.

She maintained that her husband is still “so supportive” and “proud” of her work, however.

“We have those honest conversations. He’s like, ‘I don’t really want to watch that part’ and ‘I don’t want to put you through that,'” she said. “But … we kind of worked through those feelings to a place where we both feel good and supported through it.”

Both Bure and McKellar admitted that they prefer to “fast forward” through kissing scenes.

In fact, McKellar has her own way of helping her husband through those awkward moments.

“When that part of the movie happens, I just kiss him,” she said, prompting a laugh from Bure.

Bure has recently starred in several Christmas romances on GAF, earning herself the nickname of the “Queen of Christmas Movies,” including Home Sweet Christmas, A Christmas Less Traveled, My Christmas Hero, and more. Prior to that, she was a prolific star on Hallmark with projects like the Aurora Teagarden series and If I Only Had Christmas.

Bure, who was appointed chief creative officer of the Great American Family network in 2022, said she loves working in the genre.

“I didn’t imagine that 15 years ago when I made my very first one that this would be such a massive genre for so many years,” she said.
