Cameron Boyce‘s mother, Libby Boyce, shared a heartwarming message after Adam Sandler honored the late Disney star in his latest release, Happy Gilmore 2.
Sandler paid tribute to the young actor, who passed away in 2019 at the age of 20 from a seizure. Cameron had played his son in the 2010 comedy Grown Ups and the 2013 sequel Grown Ups 2. He later passed away just days before he was set to reunite with Sandler Hubie Halloween.
Cameron can be spotted in Happy Gilmore 2 when Happy finally attempts to end his retirement and return to golf. When he’s checking into the golf course, the employees can be seen watching what appears to be an episode of Cameron’s Disney Channel show Jessie.
Libby shared a still from the moment on social media. “Thank you @adamsandler for honoring Cam’s legacy in Happy Gilmore 2,” Libby wrote.
In a separate post regarding the tribute, Libby also revealed that Sandler had been in touch with Cameron up until his death.
“Adam and Cameron talked quite a bit in the days leading up to his death. Cameron was supposed to be in Hubies Halloween and they were strategizing,” she revealed. “They had a bond I think related to being authentic, funny and just keeping it real.”
Libby added, “Adam always finds a way to keep Cams memory alive which warms our heart.”
Cameron was a budding actor with several credited roles in the Descendants franchise, Bunk’d, Mrs. Fletcher, and many more.
Sandler has paid tribute to Cameron before, sharing touching messages to the late actor both on social media and in his films.
Hubie Halloween featured a dedication to Cameron in the credits that read, “In loving memory of Cameron Boyce. Gone way too soon and one of the kindest, coolest, funniest, most talented kids we knew. You live on forever in our hearts and are truly missed every day.”
Sandler also penned an emotional statement in memory of Cameron after he passed away.
“Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around,” he wrote.
“Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us. So much more was on the way. All our hearts are broken. Thinking of your amazing family and sending our deepest condolences.”
