NextImg:California middle school brawl leads to ‘stampede’ on campus, leaving parents outraged

A violent assault of two young girls at a California middle school led to a “stampede” of students who trampled each other just to watch the fight, according to reports.

Shocking video from Friday’s attack at the Sinaloa Middle School shows one of the girls on the ground being surrounded and attacked by three other students who punched and kicked her relentlessly, KTVU reports.

Administrators then revealed that students were told ahead of time when the fight would take place, triggering a crowd of hundreds of kids to race across the campus in hopes of seeing the beat down.

“This resulted in a very large stampede of our students (several hundreds of them) rushing around the campus to seek out the fight to watch it happen,” according to a letter sent to parents.

“This mob grew in size as they ran through the campus, causing some students to fall and literally be run over by others.”

Parents, however, say this is not the first incident of violence on campus, describing it as an ongoing issue that has yet to be addressed as they expressed their outrage during a meeting on Tuesday.

“The bullying has become a huge problem and I’m hoping that we can address this through this year and for the kids that don’t feel safe,” parent Pam Laidley told ABC 7.

Novato Police said that despite their partnership with the school, they were not made aware of the situation on campus, with the school opting to get two extra private security guards and additional administrators on Friday.

The two district-wide school resource officers, however, weren’t on campus during the wild brawl, according to ABC 7.

Novato Police arrested eight students in connection to the brawl on Tuesday, including the daughter of Melanie Sanchez, who was caught on video throwing punches against one of the girls.

Sanchez claimed that her daughter had snapped after the school failed to address her bullying problem, saying the attack was aimed at her alleged tormentors.

“They’re being told they’re fat, they’re ugly, their hair is ugly, balls being thrown at them every single day at school,” Sanchez told the outlet.

Sanchez’s daughter and the seven other students were booked at the Marin County Juvenile Hall  for conspiracy and felony assault charges.

The Sinaloa Middle School did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
