A 22-year-old political science student from New Jersey has been found dead in his frat house at Bucknell University – just weeks away from his graduation.
Christian Samay, of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, was pronounced dead at 1:50 p.m. Saturday at the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity on University Avenue in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, The Tribune Democrat reported.
“This is an unspeakable loss for the Bucknell community, and our hearts go out Christian’s family and friends,” college President John Bravman said in a statement.
“I wish to note that his death was unrelated to last night’s active shooter alert and campus lockdown, and that the circumstances are not suspicious,” he wrote. “I call upon all Bucknellians to support each other In this difficult time, and to keep Christian’s family in your prayers.”
Union County Coroner Dominick Adamo said an investigation is ongoing and that an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, according to PennLive.com.
Bravman announced that classes would be canceled Monday and that counselors and campus chaplains would be made available to students.
“Please know that the safety and security of our students are our utmost priorities,” Bravman wrote the college community members.

“I want to reassure you that we are taking every step possible to support our students during this difficult time. Counseling services are available for any student who may need support, and our staff and faculty are here to provide guidance and assistance as needed,” he said.
An alert was sent out at 1:47 p.m. Saturday about an investigation at 78 University Ave., the address of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity at the private liberal arts school about 60 miles north of the state’s capital, Harrisburg, The Tribune-Democrat reported.
Bucknell spokesman Mike Ferlazzo confirmed to USA Today that Samay was a senior.
The school did not provide details about where exactly his body was found or how officials suspect that he died.

“Our student body is really shaken from the last 24 hours,” student Amaya Becker on Facebook. “Nothing is currently set in stone, but the students are currently organizing to have their own vigil on the campus quad in remembrance.”
Samay was about to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in political science, according to his LinkedIn account.
He had interned at M&T bank in Baltimore, investment firm KBW in Florham Park, New Jersey, and Digital Capital Advisors in New York City, according to the site.
On Friday, Bucknell posted on its Facebook page that campus police were responding to reports of an active shooter and that the school was placed on lockdown.
Officials later wrote in another post that they received an all-clear from public safety and had lifted the lockdown.
