NextImg:Buccaneers’ 2023 draft pick Cody Mauch comes with toothless signature look

The Buccaneers got a character with tackle Cody Mauch from North Dakota.

The tackle proudly sports two missing front teeth, and his trademark long hair adds an exquisite touch.

“I got my teeth knocked out in a seventh-grade conference championship basketball game,” Mauch explained in an ESPN NFL Draft feature.

The offensive tackle who was selected no. 48 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft continued.

“I just dove for a loose ball and ran into one of my buddies’ heads and had to go to the doctor and get them pulled out.”

Eventually, Mauch eschewed the cosmetic cover-up for his missing chompers.

“A couple years ago I kind of stopped wearing my retainer, and just kind of embraced the no-two-front-teeth look,” he continued.

“And at some point I just decided to stop spending money on haircuts, and I kind of started growing my hair out and that’s just kind of my look.”

Mauch grew up on a farm in North Dakota as one of eight kids, and said that it taught him the value of hard work.

He was known in college for doing ostentatious first-down celebrations and also doing celebratory leap-frogs with teammates.

Tampa must have really liked what it saw on film out of Mauch, as the Bucs traded up two spots with the Packers to get there, sending Green Bay an extra fifth-round pick for their troubles.
