Professional golfers, they’re just like us.

Or, at least on the rare occasion that the course gets the better of them, which has been the case through the early stretch at the PGA Championship on Thursday.

In one of the more relatable moments Bryson DeChambeau has ever had, the 2020 U.S. Open champion missed so badly on one tee shot that he hit Kenny Pigman, who was teeing up a ball on the 18th hole.

DeChambeau, apparently, had yelled “fore” and apologized for the transgression.

After missing the cut at The Masters, DeChambeau is having a solid round to start off his PGA Championship, sitting at 4-under through 16 holes at Oak Hill Country Club in Pittsford, N.Y., tied for the lead at the time with Keegan Bradley.

That part, perhaps, does not evoke the feeling of being something any of us could do.

The majors are the only high-profile tournaments DeChambeau will be playing in anytime soon, as he joined the LIV Golf tour last season, and is thus barred from competing in PGA Tour events.

On the Saudi-backed tour this season, DeChambeau’s best finish was 10th place in both Chicago and Portland while his team, The Crushers GC, has yet to win this year.

DeChambeau’s best ever finish at a PGA Championship was fourth place in 2020.
