When in London, do things as they do them in the English Premier League.
At least that’s what Bryce Harper did on Saturday for the Phillies against the Mets in the London Series.
The two-time National League MVP got the Phillies on the board with a mammoth solo homer in the fourth inning — and then followed it up with a celebration that looked fitting for a game taking place at the home of West Ham United.
Harper, with the Phillies trailing 1-0, crushed a 2-2 pitch from Mets starter Sean Manaea well over the right-field wall at London Stadium.
But after the first baseman circled the bases on his 15th homer of the year, he got in front of the third base dugout and slid to his knees, puffed his chest out and raised his arms as if he’d scored a big-time goal.
“Yeah! Let’s go!” Harper exclaimed as he got up to his feet.
He had more fun as he got high-fives in the dugout.
“I love soccer, I love soccer!” Harper said as his team congratulated him.
The blast kicked off a huge inning for Philadelphia in which it sent 10 batters to the plate and scored six runs, knocking Manaea out of the game.
Harper, who wants to see the London Series expanded, seemed to be having plenty of fun with the event, using a bat that was decorated with the Phillie Phanatic wearing Royal Guard attire.
