DENVER — Quincy Williams had strip-sacked Russell Wilson and Bryce Hall scooped up the ball and scored the 39-yard TD in the last minute and the Jets were 31-21 winners over the Broncos on Sunday.
“It was like it’s meant to be,” Hall said. “I just saw it, scooped it up, probably should have took a knee, but it was like something came over me.”
All he saw in front of him was the end zone.
“Glory to God,” Hall said. “It’s cool just to have the opportunity and at the end of the game, the ball was there for the taking, and seeing just nobody around me all the way to the end zone it’s like, ‘Man, God is good,’ and I’m grateful and thankful to be in a position to just be able to help the team in a small way.”
Hall was the cornerback opposite Sauce Gardner because D.J. Reed was out with a concussion.
“We talked on the night before, and he was just like, ‘Man, you’re ready for this,’ ” Hall said. “ ‘Go out and ball, do your thing.’ ”
He smiled when asked if he might have been thinking that Wilson would target him.
“Absolutely,” Hall said. “I was kinda wanting them to target a little bit more so I could get an opportunity to intercept the ball.”
Hall had been asked to speak to the team on Saturday night.
“He was saying he was gonna get two picks,” Gardner said. “I just told him when he scored that putting points on the board, that’s better than two picks to me. I’m just proud of him, proud of how humble he is.”
Gardner elaborated on Hall’s speech: “If anybody wondering about anything, you all ain’t gotta wonder. I got y’all. We all started clapping.”
