NextImg:Browns reveal Shedeur Sanders plans for third preseason game

Shedeur Sanders is expected to make an appearance in the Browns’ preseason finale.

The rookie quarterback missed Cleveland’s contest against the Eagles last weekend with an oblique injury, but should see the playing field on Saturday against the Rams.

“[Sanders is] feeling better and better, so barring any setback, if he comes in not feeling good tomorrow — which I don’t anticipate — he would play on Saturday,” Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said during a press conference on Thursday.

Sanders, who impressed during his preseason debut against the Panthers, completing 14 out of 23 passes for 138 yards and throwing for two touchdowns, will be the third quarterback to take the field for the Browns behind newly named starter Joe Flacco and fellow rookie Dillion Gabriel.

“We’ll play our starters in this game, depends on how the game flow goes, but between 20 to 25 plays,” Stefanski said. “There will be some guys that get out of there a little bit sooner than others. But it’s really an individualized plan for each guy. But you will see the starters out there.”

Kenny Pickett, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury suffered late last month, is not expected to play, although he is still listed as the Browns’ backup quarterback on its team website.

When asked on Thursday, Sanders indicated that he wasn’t too bothered by where he stands on the Browns’ depth chart.

“Regardless of the situation, regardless of anything, I know my time, whenever that is, I’ll be ready for it, and I’m going to embrace that,” he added. But in due time, I got many things I need to fix, many things I need to work on, and I’m not oblivious to that. So all I look at is I’m getting more time to cook.

“I’m getting more time to warm up, you know, that’s all it is.”
