An elderly woman using a mobility scooter was critically injured after the driver of a Hyundai sedan struck her as the car reversed into a parking spot on a Brooklyn street Monday evening, police and law enforcement sources said.
Marva Baker, 87, was struck around 6:15 p.m. as she attempted to cross Leonard Street in Williamsburg, police and sources said. The driver was trying to park the vehicle, according to cops.
Baker was rushed to Woodhull Hospital in critical condition, police said.
Her niece told The Post at the scene she is a beloved member of the community.
“Everybody loves her,” relative Jade Lynch said, adding. “She’s lived here for a while.”
The driver was taken into custody after remaining on the scene, police said. No charges were filed against the driver as of Monday night.
