Broncos fans holding their breath on Jerry Jeudy got comparatively good news.

Jeudy left practice on Thursday with an apparent hamstring injury.

After the severity has been assessed, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero report that the injury is “moderate” and that the wideout is “expected to miss several weeks.”

While Jeudy’s status for Denver’s Week 1 game against the Raiders is “in question,” the report said that “there’s optimism it’s nothing long term for one of Denver’s top weapons.”

“I haven’t heard anything more than just watching him come off the field, but all injuries are unfortunate,” offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said. “We’ll see what the severity of his injury is. We’ve got a lot of guys in our room, some of them are going to have to step up. Things happen — I don’t think of it as being snake-bitten or whatever.”

Jeudy had 67 catches for 972 yards and six touchdowns last season.

The Broncos already lost wideout Tim Patrick to a second consecutive season-ending injury earlier in camp.

KJ Hamler, another Broncos wideout, had to step away from football for the time being after he was diagnosed with pericarditis, a mild heart irritation.

Denver hired Sean Payton this year in an attempt to revive Russell Wilson after a poor first season with the Broncos under the leadership of Nathaniel Hackett, who is now the offensive coordinator of the Jets.
