The Chiefs’ WAGs seem like a supportive group.
Taylor Swift received support from her new bestie, Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, after she was revealed as TIME’s 2023 Person of the Year on Wednesday.
Mahomes “liked” all three of Swift’s TIME covers, which the singer — who’s dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce — shared in separate posts on her Instagram feed.
Swift and Mahomes seem to have a close friendship, as they’ve been seen sharing sweet embraces at Chiefs games, including a signature handshake and holding hands on girls’ nights out in New York City.
The NFL and the Chiefs also posted about Swift’s prestigious honor on social media after the “Karma” singer, 33, gushed over football in a candid interview, where she addressed her relationship with Kelce, 34, for the first time.
Both the NFL and the Chiefs reposted a quote from Swift on X that read, “Football is awesome, it turns out. I’ve been missing out my whole life.”
“Couldn’t have said it any better,” the NFL wrote with a red heart emoji, while the Chiefs added, “We tend to have that effect on people.”
Swift is the first entertainer to receive a solo designation in the 96 years that TIME has chosen a Person of the Year.
The 12-time Grammy winner nearly broke the internet when she discussed her whirlwind romance with Kelce in her first interview in four years.
“We are just two people supporting each other doing what we love,” the pop megastar said when asked by TIME about her relationship being so public.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” Swift said.
“The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
Swift, who split from her longtime boyfriend, actor Joe Alwyn, earlier this year, rarely talked about their relationship publicly, if at all.
The singer also recalled when Kelce “adorably put me on blast” on his “New Heights” podcast in July — when the two-time Super Bowl champ explained that he tried to shoot his shot with Swift at her concert.
“We started hanging out right after that,” Swift said. “So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.
“By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” she said, referring to the Chiefs-Bears game at Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 24.
“I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
That was the first time Swift attended one of Kelce’s games this season.
The “Cruel Summer” singer was seen cheering with his mother, Donna Kelce, in a private suite at the time.
Swift and Kelce went public with their relationship in October when they were photographed holding hands together in New York City.
Kelce has addressed the romance on several occasions.
“Obviously I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them,” Kelce said in a cover interview with WSJ. Magazine last month.
“… That was the biggest thing to me: make sure I don’t say anything that would push Taylor away.”
