Brittany Cartwright has broken her silence on Jax Taylor‘s exit from The Valley.
Last week, Taylor announced that he would be “stepping away” from the next season of the show “after an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with [his] team and producers.” The decision came amid calls for Bravo to fire Taylor for the way he’s treated Cartwright, his estranged wife, in the Vanderpump Rules spinoff’s sophomore season.
“Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting relationship,” Taylor wrote in a statement to Variety. “Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz.”
When Cartwright appeared on Tuesday night’s (July 22) episode of Watch What Happens Live following The Valley’s Season 2 finale, she seemingly hinted that Taylor’s departure from the show was not only his decision.
“I found out the night before and I was like, ‘That was a great decision by…everyone,'” she said.
According to Cartwright, her current relationship with Taylor is “horrible” and there’s “no trust whatsoever.” She even revealed that he never installed cameras in his home to make her more comfortable with their son spending the night, despite his offer to do so in the show.
“He never did that. That was a storyline for him. He lied about that. That never happened,” she said, noting that Cruz has spend the night at Taylor’s about 10 times in the last two years. Cartwright also confirmed that Taylor has “absolutely not” helped her financially with their mortgage or any of the expenses related to their son.
When host Andy Cohen asked if she thought Taylor—who recently opened up about his decades-long cocaine addiction—was still sober, Cartwright was hesitant to answer.
“I think you’ll see on the reunion that we talk about it. We get very deep on what we think it is,” Zack Wickham chimed in, while Cartwright added, “He’s sober from some things but not all things. I’ll just say that.”
